    Main Idea

    : Christians must control what they say because the tongue has a powerful   influence on all of life for good or bad.
    1. Our Tongue Is Small But Must Be Controlled. 3:12
    2. Warning given to teachers and all of us. (v. 1)
    3. Reason given for the warning. (v. 2)

     

    1. Our Tongue Is Small But Powerful. 3:35a
    2. Example of a tiny bit in a horse’s mouth that controls it. (v. 3)
    3. Example of a small rudder on a huge ship that guides it. (v. 4)
    4. Our tongue is small but “boasts” of great accomplishments. (v. 5a)

     

    III.                Our Tongue Is Small But Perilous.  3:5b6

    1. An uncontrolled tongue is destructive. (vv. 5b−6a)
